We have determined that this little community
outside of Deland, Florida where several families
lost homes and family members are in need of volunteers
who can help organize receipt of donations and
distribution of the same. Also, a young man and
his family and employees have been preparing meals
for the affected families and volunteers round
the clock since Friday morning. They are in need
of “helpers” to relieve some of the
workers.
Therefore, beginning Tuesday morning,
February 6, 2007 CBF of Florida will
be calling for Volunteers with any skill level.
We will be setting up a Base of Operations at
the Central Baptist Church Camp on Hwy 42 outside
of Deland. At this base, volunteers from CBFF
should report to register, receive credentials
and be assigned an area to assist for the day.
(From Deland, take Hwy 44 west and cross
the St. John’s River. Turn right at the
very next street which is Hwy 42. Go about 5 miles
and you will see signs on the right. Turn in and
follow the lane to the Mess Hall.)
Please pass the word along and encourage anyone
who would like to assist to report to the CBFF
Base of Operation Tuesday, Wednesday or
Thursday. We will make determinations
as to extending or not this effort as the needs
dictate. Beth Swartzfager, Camp Manager herself
has been attempting to help in this community
and has helped us by offering the use of the camp
for administrative operations. ANYONE who comes
should be prepared to make their own accommodations
including bedding, linens and perhaps snack food
and water. If the County approves the reopening
of the Camp’s water supply, the camp will
be open for accommodations.
I am attaching two forms that every volunteer
must complete and bring with them to Deland.
CBF-USAInsurance.doc
CBFVolunteerInformationForm-DisasterRelief.doc
The insurance form will be used to call in your
coverage as part of our group and CBFF will gladly
pay the 75 cents per day premium. You will need
to specify “next of kin.”
I will be working on setting this operation up
tomorrow. My cell phone will be the way to contact
me with any questions. If you and/or anyone plans
on coming any of these days, please call me so
I can be looking for you. I could use one volunteer
a day whose job it would be to “man the
base of operation”—sign people in.
Thank you for your patience and now willingness
to help. You’ve waited for the “call.”
You now have been “called.” Please
respond.
Because of HIM!
